A Raymie Johnson Estates Celebration
We’re Celebrating Our Residents and the Renovation of Raymie Johnson Estates in Oak Park Heights!
Wednesday, June 3 was a banner day for the Washington County CDA: We celebrated the rehabilitation of Raymie Johnson Estates in Oak Park Heights, Minnesota.
Constructed in 1979, the Raymie Johnson Estates apartments and townhomes became part of the Washington County CDA portfolio in the summer of 1991. This rental community provides essential affordable housing with rental assistance for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and families, featuring 96 apartments across five floors of the midrise and 24 townhomes.
In partnership with U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance, the Washington County CDA completed a top-to-bottom rehabilitation that delivered a wide range of improvements. These enhancements include modernized interiors as well as more inviting and functional amenity spaces, helping to create a higher-quality living environment for residents.
This renovation showed what is possible when public purpose and private investment come together around a shared vision. The partnership with US Bancorp Impact Finance enabled the level of investment Raymie Johnson Estates needed to upgrade and refresh the buildings. In today’s housing environment, preserving affordable housing often requires creativity, collaboration, and strong partnerships. By bringing together the vision of Washington County CDA and the support of U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance, we were able to renew the affordability of the property while making critical long-term improvements that will benefit residents for years to come.
We could not have accomplished this renovation without our other valued partners: Frerichs Construction, Kaas Wilson Architects, Colliers Securities, HOU (Housing Opportunities Unlimited), Shelter Corporation, and Canvas Health. We also know that construction and change can be disruptive. We are grateful for the trust our residents placed in us as the in-place renovation was conducted. At the heart of this project has always been a simple goal: to ensure that residents have a home that is not only affordable, but also welcoming, dignified, and built to support quality of life for years to come.
