We have launched a First-Generation Homebuyer Grant Program to assist people who are the first in their families to purchase a home.
The program will provide $5,000 in grants to first-generation homebuyers who participate in a partner program and purchase a home in Washington County, Minnesota.
Partner programs include Minnesota Housing’s First-Generation Homebuyer Loan, the First-Generation Homebuyers Community Down Payment Assistance Fund, and the City of Woodbury’s First-Time Homeownership Program. These programs offer downpayment assistance loans of up to $35,000.
The partner programs’ definitions of first-generation homebuyers can vary slightly, but in general they include first-time homebuyers whose parents also do not own a home and may include residents of manufactured home communities. Partner programs accept participants on a first-come, first-served basis and make the final eligibility determination.
