COVID-19 Assistance for Renters
Financial Relief available for Washington County Renters
Rent relief is available through the COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance program to individuals and families who have experienced hardship due to the pandemic and need assistance to pay rent or utility bills dating back to March 13, 2020. Washington County is working in collaboration with Minnesota Housing and several other local jurisdictions on this program.
A separate program providing rental assistance will be administered by Washington County’s Community Services Department. Please call Economic Support intake line: 651.430.6459 or HOST Housing line 651.430.6488.

Information and Resources for Renters in Washington County: Eviction Moratorium for Minnesota and CDC
Minnesota eviction suspension: In mid-March 2020 Governor Walz declared a Peacetime Emergency and issued an executive order on March 23rd that suspends evictions and lease terminations initiated by landlords.
On April 14th of 2021, the Governor issued Executive Order 21-19, extending the peacetime emergency declaration through May 14, 2021. This means the suspension of evictions and landlord-initiated lease terminations currently remains in place until May 14, 2021.
